Our 2013 Summer To Remember is ON! So… what is it?

When we started PacSet, we decided that we wanted to come up with tours that not only made Japan travel affordable, but also showcased some of Japan’s best “unsung” destinations. This set of ten tours offers some of the stuff you know and love, along with some of the stuff we’ve been dying to show visitors for years now.

Oh yeah, and it’s pretty inexpensive. Seriously, google tour prices and see what we mean. ^_^ See you in Japan!

This week, we’re rolling out three new tours for 2012 and 2013. First up: The Narrow Road 2012!

Tour: The Narrow Road 2012

When: November 5-14, 2012

Where: Tokyo, Takasaki, Ikaho Onsen, Yachiho, The Koumi Line, Lake Suwa, Tsumago, Magome, Kyoto, Mt. Koya, Osaka, and random stops in between

The Narrow WHAT?: The Narrow Road.

No, you idiot! What does the NAME mean?: Oh, sorry. My bad. It refers to the famed poet Basho’s famous work “Narrow Road to the Interior”, which chronicled his journey around Japan on foot (because 500 years ago, walking was the way to go).

About the tour: If you consider the market for travel to Japan, there are two tour types that we’ve seen a lot of: pop-culture focused tours (our specialty ^_^) and traditional tours - the kind that go to Tokyo, Kyoto, and that’s it. Other tours take you to the country, but keep you on a bus. With this tour, we’re aiming for something completely different: a tour that is all about experiencing Japan’s history by visiting rural and urban areas - but exploring them via trains and walking. This isn’t a hiking tour though; for every moment we’re on foot, we’ll be spending an equal amount of time admiring scenery from special trains or from the comfort of a hot spring bath.
